60bpm :: Cross-Country Journal60bpm :: Cross-Country Journal

Another project has risen from the dead! A few years ago, my friend, Travis, sent me a couple of micro cassettes in the mail, after arriving in Monterrey, California, from Cincinnati, Ohio. He wanted me to convert the tapes to compact disks. One of the tapes contained a step-by-step account of his trip across the country, which I found thoroughly entertaining. There were moments when his descriptions of time, place, weather, situation, etc., truly put me in the passenger seat.

After discussing the idea of doing something with his tapes, we got together, plotted out the stops along a map, assembled and identified photographs he had taken during the drive, and conducted a loose interview about it all. The plan for this project is to create short visual interpretations of the audio bits and assemble them together with the other pieces to create a semi-biographical, multimedia experience of the trip, which the audience will be able to follow along the way. The adventure should begin some time next month.

In the meantime, check-out the project home in it's coming-soon state. BTW--This site will only look decent using the Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari browsers.

When I first started drawing and painting, it quickly became apparent that I'd have to resign myself to the abstract arena in the world of art. Whenever I tried to recreate an object in the real world, especially the human form, it came-out severely impaired. Over a decade later, I was inspired when I saw Napoleon Dynamite's pencil-based portrait of Trisha. Now, I'm addicted to drawing myself. Lucky for you, huh? View this collection.

While I'm not at all tired or burned-out with my Kaleidoscope Project, I've caught the drift that everyone else is because feedback and general interest have trickled off to just about nothing. The best volumes have yet to be released, but I'm going to take a break from this one for a while and focus on some new projects. I'll be participating in a local art fest in mid-September and plan to have the next volume ready for presentation during that event.
